T.Rextasy Returns to the Marina Theatre!

Take a trip back to the 1970s as we welcome T.Rextasy – the Marc Bolan 40th commemorative anniversary tour.

T.Rextasy, presented by Sweeney Entertainments, have been performing all over the world for 25 years – a career that ironically out-lives Marc’s very own T.Rex.

Marc Bolan was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era. With Bolan’s special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs throughout the 1970s including ‘Telegram Sam’ and ‘Jeepster’ he was able to obtain what would be yet another Top 20 record in 1976 that has since become one of the most memorable and everlasting signature tunes, ‘I Love to Boogie’.

Here’s some more information about the band ahead of their performance at the Marina Theatre on Friday 2nd June at 7.30pm.

Daniel Z – Lead Vocals /Lead Guitar

Top 5 Bands: T.Rex, Bob Dylan, Sex Pistols, Deep Purple & Queen

What Have Been The Highlights For You: Recording Marc’s music, but having the licence to put our own individual stamp on the tracks. Playing Britain’s largest venues such as Wembley Arena. Touring Japan to sell out venues. Gaining respect from many of Marc’s contemporaries. Watching our audiences grow throughout the years.

My Message: No-one can ever take Marc’s place, no-one could ever be that naive. Treat T.Rextasy as a band of today, playing Marc’s music as faithfully as possible and recreating that special energy and performance.

Neil Cross – Rhythm Guitar /B.V.’s

What Have Been The Highlights For You: The Arena tours in 1993 and 1994 certainly. Making an official album. Touring Japan in 1995 and 1996. I can’t think of any other band I could be in for job satisfaction.

Ambitions: To play in America. I’d really like to play New York to show them what we can do!

Fave Songs Recorded With The Band: Planet Queen from our ‘Trip & Glide’ Japanese album.

My Message: It’s always a pleasure to see everyone. I hope you all keep on coming to our shows and enjoying them as much as I enjoy performing and playing all of those great songs.

John Skelton – Drums

Fave Bands and Artists: The Doors, The Who, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Cream, Hendrix, Santana (original line up), Foo Fighters, Steve Earl, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Toto and Rush

Additional Info: John has had a successful horse riding career during the 1970s (he coincidently met Bill Legend around this time and has known him ever since!) and also through the 1980s. He has been a leather craftsman making custom western saddles and all kinds of leather work in his custom workshop, making amongst other things holsters for the police, high quality western gunleather, reproductions of antique and Hollywood holsters. He has also supplied his work to the film and TV industry as well as Madam Tussauds. John is also a skilled sculptor and has a limited edition ‘Quarter Horse Head’ entitled ‘Ready for the Ring’ available in bronze.

Rob Butterfield – Bass Guitar / BV’s

Rob has been an experienced bass guitarist for many years. From 2003 – 2011 he was bassist for the official Marshall Amplification demonstration Band who toured mostly over France, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, and the UK, as well as playing major guitar shows and roadshows.

RPO returns to the Marina Theatre!

This summer the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Lowestoft to perform its ever-popular Last Night of the Proms concert.

Alongside soprano Sarah Redgwick, and conducted by Stephen Bell, the performance will take place on Friday, June 23 at 7.30pm.

The programme will include Rossini William Tell: Galop, Tchaikovsky Nutcracker: Waltz Of The Flowers, Brahms Hungarian Dance No.1, Arne Arr. Sargent Rule, Britannia!, Parry Arr. Elgar Jerusalem, Elgar Pomp And Circumstance No.1 and many more.

The performance has been kindly supported by Fosters Solicitors – an award winning law firm with offices in Norfolk and Suffolk including Norwich, Wymondham, Bungay, Lowestoft, Gorleston, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Thetford.

Never been to Last Night of the Proms before? Sarah tells us a bit more about what audiences can expect.

What do you love most about performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra?
The very high quality of music making and I’m always made to feel very welcome.

What does Last Night of the Proms mean to you?
I just love the atmosphere, the sense of occasion. It just feels like a great British institution, people coming together to celebrate all that is wonderful about us as a nation.

What can audiences expect from these performances in June?
A fun-filled evening with a variety of accessible music for all.

Which songs are you looking forward to singing the most and why?
I am very much looking forward to singing The Laughing Song from Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. It’s a lively, fun song that it sure to put a smile on your face. I also feel very proud to sing Rule, Britannia! and see the audience singing loudly and waving their flags.

How do these concerts compare to other work you are doing at the moment?
These concerts are very different to the opera that I am working on at the moment, it is a new commission for Garsington Opera called Silver Birch and this is the world premiere whereas these concerts consist of well-established popular music that everyone knows.

What do you think is so special about seeing music performed live rather than listening to a recording?
The audience can feel a part of the excitement and intimacy that you can’t get on a recording and it is also a very different sound and experience to hear music performed live.

If someone is nervous or hesitant about coming to a classical concert, why should they attend Last Night of the Proms?
It’s a perfect concert for all ages and musical tastes and a fantastic introduction to live music. The audience can let their hair down and join in with famous songs such as Jerusalem and it’s thrilling to hear everyone singing and having a wonderful time!

Join Sarah Redgwick and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for this classical extravaganza on June 23. With a selection of well-loved classical masterpieces, popular arias and Proms favourites, it’s sure to be a fun-filled evening!

Prices range from £27.50-£32.50. Under 25s £20.
