An opportunity to ‘Thrive’!

Young people with an interest in theatre shows are being encouraged to attend a new production that will allow them to stand side by side with the performers on stage. ‘Thrive’ will take place at the Marina Theatre at 6pm and 8pm on Tuesday 28th February.

Created especially for teenage audiences, and produced by Zest Theatre, ‘Thrive’ takes on the challenging subject of trauma and beautifully portrays the unsayable. Fusing vibrant contemporary text, movement, spoken word, and beautiful imagery, the audience journey with the characters as the community faces a shared loss.

Developed in collaboration with psychologists and inspired by true stories of young people, ‘Thrive’ is a beautiful and life-affirming look at finding compassion, perseverance and hope in the face of adversity.

A spokesman for the Marina Theatre said: “The show will provide a new theatre experience for audience members, who will have the chance to stand on the Marina stage and feel involved from the opening scene. It is a unique opportunity and we would love for as many people as possible to get involved and join us for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening.”

Barbara Dickson returns to the Marina Theatre

A popular Scottish singer and two-time Olivier Award winning actress will soon be making her return to the Marina Theatre.

Multi-million selling recording artist Barbara Dickson, along with her accomplished band, will perform in Lowestoft on Wednesday, February 22 at 7.30pm – her last appearance at the historic theatre was back in 2008.

Barbara will perform a wonderful range of material drawing on her folk roots as well as performing globally known hits such as ‘The Caravan Song’, ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ plus lots more.

She is also a two-time Olivier Award winning actress, with roles ranging from Viv Nicholson in the musical ‘Spend Spend Spend’ and also as Anita Braithwaite in ‘Band of Gold’.

Legendary musicians kick off busy week at the Marina Theatre

The legendary Showaddywaddy will kick off an exciting programme of events at the Marina Theatre this week.

Formed in the 1970s in Leicester, from several local bands, Showaddywaddy have sold more than 20 million records and have toured all corners of the world extensively.

The show takes place Saturday 18th February at 7:30pm. All seats £20.75.

On Sunday 19th February, at 7.30pm, You Win Again – Celebrating The Music of the Bee Gee’s will arrive at the theatre.

Prepare to experience the distinct sound of one the greatest bands to have graced the stage, in this unforgettable concert spectacular.

Attention then turns to the big screen as Jackie (15) is shown at 2:30pm and 7:30pm on 20th and 21st February.

The film, starring Natalie Portman, is a drama about the life of Jacqueline “Jackie” Kennedy in the days immediately following the assassination of her husband, US President John F. Kennedy.

The spectacular Round the Horne: The 50th Anniversary Tour is sure to prove popular on Thursday 23rd February at 2:30pm and 7:30pm.

From 1965 to 1968 there wasn’t a bigger radio programme in Britain than the ground-breaking Round the Horne. For half an hour every Sunday afternoon, audiences of up to 15 million people would gather around the wireless to listen to Kenneth Horne and his merry crew get up to all sorts of mischief.

So come and take a step back in time to the BBC’s Paris Studios and experience this comedy classic live.

The week concludes with Menopause the Musical – starring Cheryl Fergison (EastEnders), Maureen Nolan (The Nolans), Rebecca Wheatley (Casualty) and Ruth Berkeley (Penny Dreadful).

The hysterical show packed full of one-liners about night sweats, hot flushes and memory loss is backed by an instantly recognisable soundtrack of innuendo-laden versions of 60s, 70s and 80s pop classics.

You Win Again!

It is a production that tells the story of one of the greatest bands of our time – from their early triumphs to their devastating decline.
